Vintage 2001: Red 13% vol.
Soil: Old terrasse formed from marls and colluvial deposits classified as part of the "Grès de Montpellier" (Montpellier Sandstone).
Yield: 45 hl/hectare
Grape Varieties: 50% Syrah, 50 % Grenache
Vinification: Separated one grape variety after another with 3 week maceration for Syrah and 2 week maceration for Grenache. Matures in vats for 12 months.
Tasting
Color: intense purple with flashes of dark violet.
Bouquet: very pungent and intense. Hint of licorice, spices (cloves, nutmeg) and laurel.
Palate: Clean and lively attack. Taste of crushed fruit (blackberry, cherry) and a hint of menthol.
A dense, round and structured wine with a nice freshness.
Good potential: serve at room temperature or may be left to age for at least 5 years.
Serving Suggestions: Serve with barbecued meat, cold cuts, cheese (Comte) or chocolate.
